I have occupied myself with RUSSIAN LITERATURE and societies in CIS countries since 1997. I translate Russian belles-lettres, memoires and poetry, I have published an anthology about GULAG (i.e. forced labor camps during the Stalin time) and also contributed to Czech newspapers Hospodářské noviny, Respekt, Lidové noviny, Souvislosti about the CIS societies and cultures. My poetry book about Russia and me called "Cheap Romance" was published in 2017.
My interests in the phenomenon of labor camps have brought me to the problem of HUMAN RIGHTS in the world in general. I have worked as a Head of Eastern European and Russian Department for Human Rights and Democracy at the Czech humanitarian organization People in Need.
I served as a Human Rights/Rule of Law Officer for OSCE in Armenia 2013 - 2017. I am a member of the Czech Evaluation Society and evaluate development/human rights-oriented projects. I've ben working as a Human Rights Adviser at the E uropean Union Monitoring Mission to Georgia since 2019.
